'Watchmen' Prowling Video Games

In support of the Watchmen movie adaptation coming out next March, Warner Bros. Interactive is planning to publish two downloadable games for DC's next comic flick. The games will be made for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC platforms.

Developed by Deadline Games, who created the delicious Chili Con Carnage for the PSP, the first Watchmen game episode will be released simultaneously with the film's release and the second will follow the DVD debut. According to Variety, Warner wanted to deviate from the usual console video game-movie release and the company felt that the upcoming downloadable titles will serve fans better. "We don’t want a low-quality console game that will get lost at retail," said by Warner Bros. Interactive Senior Production VP Samantha Ryan.

Written by David Hayter, who was the voice of Solid Snake from the Metal Gear Solid game series, Watchmen is set to hit theaters on March 6, 2009. Check out the video after the cut.

'Zombies MDS' Picked Up

Film company Benderspink picked up the film rights to Red 5 Comics'  horror/action comic "ZMDs: Zombies of Mass Destruction" by "Kevin Grevioux.

"ZMD" zombies as weapons: The army drops the undead behind enemy lines, they wake up at night and destroy people by, presumably, eating brains. But after one fails to self-destruct in the Middle East, a team of elite soldiers must enter hostile territory to stop a growing zombie army.

It's way to early to know any details on the film, but fans of the comic (and zombies!) will be happy nonetheless.

McFarlane Returns to Spawn

Todd McFarlane is returning to the series that made him a household name in the early '90s. Starting this October with issue #185, the acclaimed artist will return to Spawn in an ongoing creative role. This marks the second comic book project McFarlane is working on, the first being Haunted with Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman.

Joining McFarlane will be Image co-founder Whilce Portacio and writer Brian Holguin. McFarlane will serve as creative diretor of the series. Portacio will be tackling the art with Holguin writing the title.

"While I'm very happy with where Spawn has gone, it's long past time to inject some new blood into the series while also returning to its roots," said McFarlane. "I feel what Whilce and I are doing with our co-writer, Brian Holguin, combines the old and the new in a way no one would have expected. That's a claim which gets tossed around quite a bit in the industry, but this one really changes everything."

Spawn #185 Art

"Having Todd by my side is fantastic, because he gives me all the texture he's been trying to place in his stories," says Portacio. "As the artist, I get to say, 'Okay, let me grab all of this stuff that's oozing out of your head, and let me see if I could make it visually pleasing.' For me, that is artistic bliss."
